Reiki is not a substitute for allopathic medical care or treatment. While allopathic or naturopathic doctors may practice Reiki, Reiki practitioners are typically not doctors. Your medical professional should know about any alternative or homeopathic treatment options you consider for both acute and chronic conditions you may experience. Reiki can be a complementary addition to you and your doctor's health and wellness plan and goals.
Most people will feel a sense of calm and relaxation during a Reiki treatment and may even fall asleep. Reiki may also release stored pain and tension within the body, which may also release strong feelings and emotions. It is recommended that you drink water regularly for the first 24 - 48 hours following a treatment to help flush the body.
Every person responds differently to Reiki. Some clients may feel tingling or heat where the practitioner places their hands, or they may feel nothing at all. If you experience any discomfort during treatment, be sure to communicate with your practitioner right away so adjustments can be made.
